Work it Out Wombats!

PBS KIDS

Teaching computational thinking to preschoolers

At GBH Kids, I was part of the original team to launch a new IP, Work It Out Wombats! The show features a playful trio of wombat siblings who live in the Treeborhood with their Grandma Super. The series focuses on solving problems using computational thinking, and the games encourage kids to practice various STEM concepts like coding, debugging, testing, and exploring multiple solutions. In addition to designing the games, I also played a role in developing core pieces of the brand’s identity including digital color palette, typography, UI systems used across all games, and more.

Toy Maker

This game introduces a preschool-friendly coding interface that allows kids to build a variety of toys for Mr. E’s Everything Emporium. Players can choose to build a vehicle, stuffie, or toy house and can customize multiple parts of the toy using size, color, a battery-powered modifications. Kids build and test the toys against a set of requirements, or they can choose to play in a more creative, sandbox mode.

Road Repair

Players solve shape-based puzzles to help Zeke travel across tree branches in the Treeborhood. For this game, I led the UX and visual design, as well as contributed character animation and illustrated assets.
